"You deserve better" is the historical and hysterical line uttered by mothers who can't let go of sons, fathers who can't let go of daughters, lovers who can't let go of lovers. It's the self-justifying excuse used by all kinds of people who can't face the real truth: No one else is good enough for you, because i want you for myself.
