The year of 2008 has by far been the most influential year for me. It has been monumental. On a big scale, I witnesses the election of the first black President Barack Hussein Obama. I almost cried on election night, I mean to see a black win the election made me proud to be a black man for the very first time in my life, and I will forget that day for as long as I live.
On a smaller scale...This year I tested out of high school. I must admit it was a difficult decision to make but I needed to make a big change in my life in fear that I would jut continue to coast in 2009. I needed to throw a "rock" in the pond that is my life. If I didn't shake things up in some way I was going to go insane. Despite the overwhelming amount of ridicule I get for making that decision, I don't regret it one bit. I am ready to be a good student and work hard, so that I can go to Berkeley and finally make my dreams a reality.
High school wasn't the only chapter of my life that I closed this year......This year I finally told the girl I love how I feel about everything. Despite my horrible timing (smile) I'm glad I got things off my chest. I found it funny how people are always coming to me for advice and always expressing their feelings to me, but when I need to express my feeling I freeze up. It's weird. I feel really at peace about everything. And it's also weird because...Me and her were never in a relationship, just really close friends that cared about each other...and even though we never dated...she has still managed to be the only girl that matters to me. No one else holds a candle to her. And even thought it sucks that I am so F***ed up in the head that I could not open up to her when I should have...If you told me I could start over and either live my life without meeting her or live my life meeting her and knowing that we'll never be together. I'd choose the later. She has taught me sooo much about myself and about women. I used to think that all girls just cared about the money, and the car, and the look. But she didn't with me. She looked pass my faults and saw me 4 me, and that is something that I will never forget. She has showed me the type of girl I want to live my life with. Sweet, loving, compassionate, Godly, beautiful, sexy, witty, intelligent, and genuine. I now know that those girls do exist, and I will not settle for less....Thanks to her.
On a final note.......After looking back on everything that happened with me and this girl I realized one truly valuable life lesson...You can spend your whole life looking for something and eventually find it...which is great....but If you don't have the balls to go and get the thing you found than it's all for nothing...I found a girl who didn't car about my money, my car (or lack there of lol), and my body (I'm chubz lol) and when it all came down to the wire and she was right there in front of me I let the three short comings about me that she ignored stop me from taking a chance. I thought to myself if I don't get a job, get a car, lose allot of weight, she'll eventually now want to be with me. I think she deserves allot better than the Daniel Rufus that lived in 06, 07, and 08. But maybe in 09 or even someday later than that she can meet the new Rufi, the one that has the strength and courage to love her and be with her with no doubts and insecurities, but even if that doesn't happen I kno one day I'll find love again and when I do I'm gonna run after it and never stop chasing it......thanks to her.....
I wish everyone a safe and happy new years eve, toast at midnight, laugh till you cry, and kiss the one's ya love. Embrace the new year cuz good things are gonna happen for us all. God Bless
